Blackjack Rules for Each and Everyone

The Basics

Blackjack is a game that you play versus the dealer; any other players can be ignored. Your main goal would be to get as high a hand as possible without exceeding 21. If a card gives you an amount higher than 21, you instantly lose by busting.

Card Values

First and foremost, you need to learn the values of each card, so that you know what move to make next as you play. Cards from 2 to 10 have its face value. Aces can either be a 1 or an 11 - your choice. Hands with aces that you count as 11 are considered soft hands. But if you pull a card after that and exceed 21, you can still count that ace as 1 instead. The greatest hand in Blackjack would be the 'two-card blackjack': an ace and a card with a value of 10.

The Start of the Game

The game starts after every player places his bet. This needs to be done prior to the cards being dealt. After all bets are down, cards get dealt - two for every player, including the dealer. While the cards of the players are given face-up, however, only one card of the dealer is face-up. After everyone's card assessments, each player needs to decide if they wish to hit, stand, double down or split.

Explanations

A hit means that the player finds their hand low, so they ask for an extra card to add to it. A stand means that the player wants to stick to their hand and find out what hand the dealer holds. A double down means that the player feels confident about beating the dealer, so they get another card and double their original bet with only one last chance to get another card. This is usually done if a hand is total to a 9, a 10 or an 11. A split is if the player's first two cards are exactly the same and they want to split them with one extra card added onto each. This gives them two hands of the exact same bet as the original. They both get played as separate hands.

The End of the Game

If every player is satisfied with their hand, the dealer can show his card and announce the winners. If his total is under 16, he needs to hit, while hands higher than that need to stand. In the end, every person with a higher hand and closest to a value of 21 against the dealer is a winner.
